Kiah turns 1.5 years old this week and I am happy to announce that his room is finally fully finished! 🙂 About time, right?
When we first had Kiah we had a one-bedroom condo so we weren’t able to decorate a nursery for him, then when we moved to an apartment in Seattle and I knew the place was just in the interim until we found a home so I didn’t want to invest in decorating too much! And once we moved to our house we had some remodeling to do and then we were able to begin fully decorating the room and now 1.5 years after his birth we have a fully decorated nursery (technically a toddler room)! Having a place we could actually alter to our liking was great as it meant we could put up nursery wall decals and paint the walls – all that good stuff! As you can see from the photo, we keep it pretty neutral, as you can’t go wrong with white. We didn’t think adding antique furniture would be right for a kid’s room, just yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t choose to see antique furniture here and hopefully get some new additions for your room!
Kiah loves his room so much. He totally understands that’s his own place and loves just going and sitting in there to get some alone time! So many people told us to now waste our time with decorating a nursery and that we wouldn’t use it but it was quite the opposite for us! Kiah has slept in his own room since he was 6 months old and we utilize his room/rocking chair/changing table on a daily basis so I’m so glad we committed to finishing the room! The furniture has been great if I’m being honest, as we can use the rocking chair to help him watch things like these kids songs that rhyme, as we want to make sure that he can learn as much as he can before he starts school (which hopefully won’t get here too quickly, as I don’t want him to grow up just yet). We did take a while deciding on what to get for Kiah’s room though. Our friends said they used PromoCodeWatch for discounts when they furnished their little one’s nursery. Unfortunately, we had finished by then! Fortunately, they grow so fast we will have to update the place before we know it, so it’s good to know for the future when Kiah gets older and wants something different.
For now, I knew I wanted to have created a neutral room because I wanted it to be calm and peaceful for Kiah with no crazy distractions. I added some pops of blue in the room to give it a little “boy” feel. I wanted to absolutely love every piece in his room before I purchased it and I can truly say I every piece is a favorite and there was a lot of thought put into getting it! One of by absolute favorites though is the custom oceans print hung above his bed. I love that song and so does Kiah. It’s played almost daily at our house and Kiah worships to it as soon as it comes on!
