Every year since we’ve been married Heeva and I try to take one trip abroad and since having Kiah the tradition has stayed strong! Last year we went to Spain with him and now this year we decided on Italy! We went with our close friend, their baby girl Sophie, my mama, and my aunt who came from Iran! 6 adults and 2 toddlers, just take a second to imagine the luggage situation and whatever you imaged up – add 4 more pieces to that 😉
Traveling to 4 cities with that many people (especially the 2 toddlers) and that much luggage was no easy task! But as hard as it was we enjoyed ourselves so much! Traveling with a big group is fun, always something to laugh about, always someone there to take your picture and more importantly more people to make forever memories with!
We stayed in Rome, Florence, Bologna and Venice. And I loved every city so much – it’s hard to pick which one was my favorite because they all had so much character and culture but if I HAD to choose I would say Florence! It was magical. I honestly could have spent the entire time there and not gotten sick of it. Venice was a really close second – it was like a story book & it was picturesque in every corner. Speaking of Venice, I want you to go back and imagine those pieces of luggage I wrote about earlier…now imagine six big bridges with a million steps & us taking every piece across every bridge!! It was pretty hilarious. Hilarious for the girls, not so much for the guys who did all the lugging around in 80 degree weather haha.
Oh, and let’s talk a little about food – the first 8 days I was in pasta and pizza heaven – Lasagna, Bolognese, and pizza on repeat. But even a big carb lover like me had to take a break from all. We became so sick of the food that towards the end of the trip we would just go to the closest fast food restaurant haha. I’m ashamed to say that we had McDonalds and Burger King Twice 😉
With all the crying, luggage, long plane and train rides, chaotic restaurant visits and 150 diaper changes Italy was still an amazing experience! We loved it so much and look forward to heading back there one day this time maybe just the adults ;D
